WikiHabitat at BauZ! Viena

Body

On Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8, David Juarez from Straddle3 participated in BauZ! Vienna, the International Congress on Sustainable Building organized by the Austrian Institute for Building and Ecology (IBO) and held at the campus of the Vienna University of Technology.

The talk, titled “WIKIHABITAT: A recipe to provide neighbourhoods with affordable housing in a faster, cheaper, greener, and more inclusive way,” was part of Session 3: Circular Economy in Building Practice, chaired by Doris Österreicher from the University of Stuttgart.
In this session, David Juarez presented WikiHabitat as an innovative model for accelerating the creation of sustainable and inclusive affordable housing through participatory processes, circular materials, and fast-track methodologies.

Over the course of the two days—which included plenary lectures, workshops, and round tables—participants explored pioneering projects and emerging tools aimed at advancing the green transition in construction. David Juarez’s presentation offered an inspiring perspective on how to rethink urban development to meet environmental and social goals simultaneously.
