The housing units prefabricated from recycled shipping containers have already arrived from the workshop and have been placed successfully in a shorter term than expected (3 days), which confirms the speed of the system in comparison to conventional construction systems.
The project defends the need for public housing in disused downtown lots, confronting the fact that currently most of the public developments are located in the periphery of the city. Due to its reversible nature, it also allows the use of lots not originally intended for housing.
It adopts a new industrialized, fast and sustainable construction model meeting the needs of a modular, transportable and demountable system for temporary intervention of periods of 5 or more years. The building consists of 12 accommodations, 8 individual and 4 double modules and a communal area on the ground floor for the neighborhood. You can see more information about the project here.
