The #ATRI system proposes the use of building systems that respond to the environmental challenge. In the production phase of prefabricated elements, mainly wood and steel will be used to obtain self-supporting and efficient modules.
Research is being carried out on prefabrication systems with wood, prioritizing the manufacturers of our territory, contemplating systems based on massive laminates and composite systems (sandwich).
In metallic structures, we are considering, on the one hand, the use of removable structural systems, meccano type, based on reusable alveolar beams, and on the other the option of reusing ISO transport containers.
For example, Barcelona is one of the main ports of the Mediterranean, every year millions of containers reach it from places like China. They have a short shelf life, and at the same time they are economical, easily transportable, lightweight yet sturdy modular elements designed to be stacked up to five floors in a stable manner. Since the 1960s, architecture has experienced many times with the reuse of freight containers to provide metal structures for construction. The #ATRI strategy proposes to continue this tradition in order to achieve economic, light, reversible and fast execution structures.
